Senior Operations Administrator - £20ph - £24ph - SE London

We are currently recruiting for a Senior Operations Administrator to join a leading UK University. We require a candidate with proven experience navigating and supporting organisational change and growth, such as scaling a business, managing capital projects or developing research initiatives. They should thrive in evolving environments, demonstrating the vision to implement new processes.
The ideal candidate will have operational experience, preferably in research, higher education, or similar institutional settings. They should excel in organizational, managerial, and communication skills, with expertise in budget management, research project administration, and fostering relationships within large teams and with external partners.
The role
- Collaborate with the Director, senior department team members and other departments (Finance, Legal, HR, etc.).
- Support project management across all stages, including staffing, timelines, budgeting, ethics, data protection, copyright/IP, contracting and administration.
- Assist in framing and negotiating contracts with collaborators, funders, and affiliates, working with the Legal team.
- Act as the primary liaison between the department and other stakeholders, advocating for the department and building strong relationships.
- Oversee all HR functions, including recruitment, performance reviews, job changes, visa applications and terminations.
- Manage financial administration, including subcontractor management, contract drafting and processing invoices, payments and expense claims.
- Develop and update team protocols for operations, project management, data security and safety in collaboration with senior team members.
- Promote a positive team culture by refining feedback mechanisms and fostering an open, respectful and constructive work environment.
- Ensure all departmental activities align with the mandate and obligations to funders, collaborators, and stakeholders.
