Scope of Activities:
As a Power Risk Engineer, you’ll play a pivotal role in assessing and managing risk within the power generation sector. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Conducting Standard Risk Engineering Surveys: You’ll conduct thorough site surveys, which typically involve 2-3 day visits to client facilities, including interviews with key management teams and site tours.
- Engineering Reports: Provide in-depth reports that detail site operations, loss prevention/mitigation features, and a ranking of site quality with actionable recommendations for improvement.
- Property Damage Estimation: Utilize bespoke modeling software to estimate property damage and evaluate risks.
- Power Plant Risk Assessments: Carry out risk assessments for operational power plants and review new projects for key power clients.
- Collaboration with Power Broking Team: Support the team in placing risks within international insurance markets.
- Engineering Management System: Manage and develop the Engineering Management System to ensure accurate tracking and reporting.
Key Special Skills:
- Technical Expertise: Strong working knowledge of power industry technologies, construction management, and project management.
- Risk-Driven Decision Making: Experience in making decisions based on risk assessments in relevant fields.
- IT Proficiency: Advanced skills in office tools such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Experience with technical simulation packages for process modeling, risk assessment, and project execution.
- Communication Skills: Enhanced written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear reports and interact with all levels of the organization.
Candidate Profile:
Work Experience:
- 8+ years of experience in Operations, Maintenance, or Technical Functions within the Power Generation industry, including CHP, Biomass, or Biogas.
Academic Background:
- Electrical or Mechanical Engineering degree (or equivalent).
Additional Beneficial Skills:
- Exceptional communication skills (oral and written).
- Ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.
- Proficiency with company software and systems, as well as effective use of the internet.
- Fluent in English (speaking, reading, and writing).
