We are recruiting for an Analyst to work in the London office of a Japanese trading company.

The Energy Analyst will handle the intelligence hub for the Energy Transformation business unit, focusing on energy related policies and the markets across Europe including the UK. You will locate, analyse, and interpret data used by managers to identify trends, to inform decision making, and identify new business opportunities.

The ideal candidate should have previous work experience in analysis areas for research institutes, governmental bodies, or financial institutions, and excellent English communication skills.

TYPE: Permanent, full-time

WORKING HOURS: 9:00-17:00 from Monday to Friday (flexible hours available)

SALARY: £37k - £45k depending on experience

LOCATION: London

Energy Research Analyst Main Responsibilities:

  • Gathering information on energy related policies and the markets and analysing data
  • Understanding the needs of the BU (Business Unit) and its members
  • Tracking news and information related to energy arenas as well as relevant areas. Gather, assess, analyse and interpret data and information
  • Act as a point of contact for internal stakeholders to address ad hoc information needs and strategic questions
  • Quick summaries for prompt sharing, deliverables will be in English
  • Occasionally preparing those into presentation materials (as requested/needed)
  • Create periodic intelligence bulletins or newsletters tailored to their evolving needs
  • Other tasks to help the BU members operate and develop business in an efficient and effective manner, as requested

Energy Research Analyst Ideal Candidate:

  • Previous work experience in analysis areas for research institutes, governmental bodies or financial institutions
  • Previous experience of working in a corporate environment, ideally investments, trading or banking
  • Strong verbal and written skills in English
  • Japanese language abilities would be hugely advantageous
  • Data collection and analysis skills
  • Report writing and presentation skills
  • Critical analytical thinking
  • Strong literacy and numeracy skills
  • MS Office Excel, PowerPoint
  • Strong communication and networking skills
  • Excellent time management skills
