The Quantitative Research Analyst will be part of the Energy and Commodity Trading team. The Analyst will play a key role in supporting the trading business, and study all data available to draw conclusions about how the market might be changing - finding relationships between fundamentals drivers and prices.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in economics, statistics, and mathematics, and will be adept at using these skills to analyse complex data. You will work closely with other market analysts to interpret data, identify patterns, and make recommendations based on your findings. The successful candidate will have excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate complex concepts in a clear and concise manner. You should be proficient in using statistical software and programming languages. Additionally, you should have experience in handling large datasets and be comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and apply econometric models to analyse complex data including energy fundamental data.
  • Interpret data and identify patterns to provide actionable insights.
  • Use statistical software and programming tools using statistical analysis and tools.
  • Provide recommendations to support decision-making processes.
  • Supporting strategic business decisions by communicating the impact of our analysis to traders and wider business
  • Communicate complex concepts in a clear and concise manner to traders, structurers and the wider business.
  • Use statistical software and programming tools to help build trading strategies and assist with decision making processes.
  • Developing price views by understanding the impacts on views and positions.
  • Staying on top of latest market developments and communicate trends
  • Studying all important market drivers - by building the right models to forecasts impacts on the price of gas and the alternative fuels
  • Prepare reports and presentations based on your findings.
  • Work closely with traders, structurers and the relevant IT teams
  • Assist the Market Analysis team by helping out running and improving existing models and be able to generate insights from these models that can be used in your roles

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Target is around 2 to 5 years’ experience in similar role, which doesn’t have to be in Energy, but at a trading desk
  • Commercial thinking and ability to see opportunities in data and in trends.
  • Keen to learn about Energy market dynamics and its effect on the market prices
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analysis skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and concisely.
  • Able to manage moving deadlines and changing priorities, and maintain a flexible mindset when managing conflicting priorities across the business
  • Ability to stay updated with the latest developments.
  • Experience at a trading desk
  • Minimum: Python, SQL (or other db-related languages). Nice to have Bloomberg API, Rust, C#
  • Highly analytical and numerate with strong attention to detail
  • Exceptional written, oral and interpersonal communication skills
  • International mindset and culturally aware
  • Entrepreneurial and extremely driven
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
