Our client is a leading Barristers’ Chambers based in Central London. Chambers has an outstanding reputation in each of its specialist practice areas, across the whole remit of Commercial, Arbitration, Public and Public International Law. It receives consistent tier 1 rankings in the leading legal directories for its advisory and advocacy expertise.

Chambers seeks to appoint a highly suitable, dynamic individual to the position of Head of Marketing, a role that takes a lead in driving forward Chambers’ marketing objectives, ensuring all marketing activities and external communications are of the highest quality and adequately reflect Chambers’ brand and core values across multiple channels and platforms.

The role provides practical marketing assistance to all Members of Chambers as well as providing strategic input and ideas into business plans and budgets in relation to brand, profile and communications. At the centre of the role is a focus on efficiency and the ability to maximise return on investment to fit with Chambers’ marketing strategy.

Key responsibilities and duties include:

Marketing Strategy

  • Identifying, developing and facilitating marketing initiatives and opportunities to raise the profile of Chambers and its Members
  • Liaising with the Senior Clerk & Practice Management Teams to develop and take forward new and existing initiatives
  • Liaising with Barristers to write and edit or make submissions to a range of publications, including in particular legal directories and award submissions and rankings
  • Establishing and building media relationships within the legal sector

Events

  • Identifying and assisting with Chambers’ industry and client-focused talks, seminars and events
  • Organising & attending relevant internal & external events nationally & internationally to promote chambers & its members
  • Arranging and coordinating the annual client party

Business Strategy

  • Assisting with strategic analysis of work and trends to identify future opportunities
  • Building the profile and overall visibility of Chambers and its members both in the UK and internationally
  • Assisting with the website strategy and content, including updating members’ profiles and news items
  • Developing strategies and conducting research into legal sectors to build market presence and support the Members in their marketing activities  

Communications

  • PR and liaison with legal and wider press on behalf of Chambers and its Members including developing positive relationships with editors and journalists
  • Preparing media briefing notes and preparing interviewees as appropriate
  • Working with international legal directories to promote chambers in all sectors
  • Gain insights into legal directories and develop positive relationships with editorial/research teams
  • Drafting press releases and other PR-related material
  • Contribute to e-newsletters and similar materials for marketing to law firms
  • Identifying and drafting “news items” for the website
  • Managing external communications including social media (Website, X and LinkedIn)

The Person

  • Degree or equivalent professional qualification
  • Previous marketing and events management experience within Chambers, legal/professional services environment
  • Experience in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator (desirable).
