Workshop Recruitment is looking for an experienced Catering Equipment Engineer in the London area. Our client is a leading commercial catering equipment and Portable Kitchen supplier to both public and private sector clients across the globe. Working in the following sectors;

  • Catering equipment installations within traditional buildings, tent structures and modular buildings
  • Portable Kitchen installations comprising modular units from the hire fleet
  • Catering modular building installations
  • Equipment service and maintenance at Harrods, Knightsbridge
  • Catering equipment service and maintenance within the MOJ (Prison Service) estate.

The Role

As a Catering Equipment Engineer, you will work as alongside our senior engineers within the London area.  You will gain on the job experience in addition to attending training courses which will develop the successful individual into a qualified catering engineer and part of an experienced team to perform planned maintenance, repair, and contract service maintenance to our clients across the London and surrounding areas.

Our client works across a wide range of catering equipment, you will therefore continually have the opportunity to learn, troubleshoot and find solutions committed to training and personal development. the intention is that all catering engineers are proficient and qualified in the relevant gas, electrical, plumbing and refrigeration skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carrying out the necessary planned preventative maintenance checks to ensure each item of catering equipment/kitchen unit/kitchen installation is safe and fit for purpose.
  • Liaise with the customer's on-site catering staff at all levels in order to prioritise and resolve breakdowns.
  • Responding to Technical Support calls in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Maintain a good understanding of the operation of all items of catering equipment within the hire fleet and the business criticality of each item.
  • Identify and resolve technical issues with items of equipment, kitchen units or kitchen installations as required.
  • Complete all documentation in a proper and timely manner
  • Report to the Company and the customer any suspected or known misuse or neglect of Company equipment.
  • Decommission equipment and install replacement items as required.
  • Train or brief customer's staff on the safe use, care and cleaning of all items of equipment.
  • Assist and support the Technical Support Department as required.
  • Keep your working area / van clean and stocked and ready to work.
  • Support site and project related activities in the UK or overseas as required.

Skills & Experience:

This is a key appointment within the business and accordingly attaches a significant level of responsibility. Candidates must possess the following skills and experience:

Essential:

  • Full UK Driving License.
  • Clean & Tidy Appearance
  • Ability to demonstrate a good Mechanical & Electrical knowledge gained either through work experience or qualifications as indicated below.
  • Naturally curious individual with fault finding / problem solving, and judgement skills
  • Customer focused with a courteous and professional manner
  • Good organisational and timekeeping skills
  • Must be organized with attention to work administration and van stock procedures.

Desirable

  • Experience in a field-based engineering role
  • Mechanical & Electrical qualifications i.e. NVQ or City & Guilds

  • ComCat 1 Commercial catering Appliances Group 1 - Boiler Burner, Open / Solid Top ranges, Hot Plates & Bains Maries
  • ComCat 3 Commercial Catering Appliances - Deep Fat Fryers, pressure fryers, Griddles and Grills.
  • ComCat 5 Commercial Catering Appliance - Forced Draught Burner Appliances
  • CONGLP1 PD Commercial Catering Appliance - Changeover from natural gas to LPG
  • CCLNG1 Core Commercial Laundry Gas Safety
  • CLE1 Non-Domestic Natural Gas & LPG Laundry Appliances

Electrical

  • C&G 2382 18th Edition
  • C&G 2391 Testing & Inspection
  • Foundation Formal qualification

Refrigeration

  • F-gas 1/5 Certification
  • Exceptional candidates who do not meet these criteria may be considered for the role provided they have the necessary skills and experience.
