About the Role

This independently owned London based service provider is seeking a skilled and experienced Commercial Gas Engineer to join their team in London. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining, servicing, and repairing of mechanical systems within residential and commercial properties, ensuring optimal performance and customer satisfaction. This role offers an excellent opportunity for professional growth in a dynamic and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, service, and repair Heat Interface Units (HIUs) across various properties.
  • Perform routine maintenance to ensure systems operate efficiently and reliably.
  • Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM): Execute regular PPM tasks on critical mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and building services, to ensure optimal performance and compliance with safety standards.

Must have knowledge, experience and understanding in the following:

  • HIU service and maintenance
  • Plantroom & tank rooms
  • Domestic boilers and underfloor heating
  • District heating
  • Chillers and ASHP
  • FCU’s & AHU’s
  • Pumps service and maintenance
  • Water hygiene & water treatment
  • BMS and domestic controls
  • Fire alarms, AOV, dry risers
  • Electrical understanding
  • Multi skilled basics required

Diagnostics & Repairs:

  • Diagnose and resolve faults in HIUs and boilers, pumps, plantroom equipment
  • Carry out system flushing and chemical treatments as required.

Compliance & Documentation:

  • Ensure all work complies with relevant health and safety standards, regulations, and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Complete service reports, risk assessments, and other required documentation accurately.

Customer Service:

  • Provide clear communication to clients regarding issues, solutions, and system performance.
  • Offer advice on energy efficiency and best practices for operating HIUs.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven experience working with Heat Interface Units in a similar role.
  • Commercial gas qualification - essential
  • In-depth knowledge of plumbing and heating systems, including district and communal heating.
  • Relevant qualifications, such as NVQ Level 2/3 in Plumbing & Heating or equivalent.
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Full UK driving license.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with district heating systems and associated technologies.
  • FGAS, air conditioning knowledge and experience
  • Knowledge of building management systems (BMS) and control interfaces.
  • Additional certifications, such as Gas Safe registration.
  • Understanding of Simpro or similar CAFM software
