Our client, a specialist in the engineering sector, is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer (Buildings - HVAC) on a contract basis. This role is primarily remote with occasional visits to Weybridge, London, or Guildford. The role requires significant experience in HVAC design within a regulated multidisciplinary environment, particularly in laboratory and life science sectors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leading projects within the mechanical discipline and supporting the overall project team
- Working independently on technical aspects with minimal supervision or possessing specialist experience
- Interpreting the needs of the project to ensure successful delivery
- Providing design and technical advice within a multidisciplinary MEP team
- Completing detailed designs for all mechanical systems associated with the project
- Leading feasibility studies specific to the discipline
- Directing others in producing detailed and performance specifications
- Reviewing design programmes and ensuring adequate resources are available
Job Requirements:
- Experience in delivering HVAC designs for similar building typologies
- Excellent attention to detail and pride in work output
- Understanding of Part L regulations and the ability to demonstrate compliance through calculations
- Working knowledge of TAS or IES for project allocation and direction
- Proficiency with RevitMEP or other 3D design software
- Knowledge of AutoCAD for project work allocation and direction
Mechanical Skills:
- Proficiency with Hevacomp
- Heat loss and heat gain calculations
- Pipe sizing (LTHW, CHW, HWS, CWS etc.)
- Pump sizing
- Duct and fan sizing
- Psychrometrics and control valve sizing
- Thermal modelling and BMS systems
Qualifications:
- CIBSE / IET / IMechE Engineering Council accredited honours degree or equivalent experience for Chartership
- IES or TAS training
- RevitMEP training
- Working towards or achieved I Eng or C Eng status
- BEng/BSc/MEng in an applicable engineering discipline
