Graduate/Trainee Imaging Field Service Engineer

Salary: £27,000-£30,000

Location: HCA London between sites

Position Overview:

This trainee role is designed to provide foundational training and experience in servicing and maintaining diagnostic imaging equipment, with a primary focus on X-ray and Ultrasound systems across multiple vendors. The position is based in Hertfordshire and includes on-site field visits throughout the UK, as well as telephone support, to ensure effective repairs and preventative maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in troubleshooting and repairing X-ray and Ultrasound equipment, learning to maximise uptime.
  • Provide on-site and remote support under the guidance of experienced engineers.
  • Develop skills in customer service by maintaining clear communication and building professional relationships.
  • Complete essential service documentation and assist in managing stock.
  • Support other engineering teams as needed and follow health and safety regulations.
Key Accountabilities:
  • Learn to diagnose and resolve equipment issues promptly to support repair time and uptime targets.
  • Participate in scheduled maintenance and preventive care of imaging systems.
  • Record accurate maintenance and service information for internal use.
  • Stay updated through training on emerging technologies in medical imaging.
Qualifications & Skills:
  • Essential: HNC/D in Engineering or equivalent.
  • Desirable: Strong interest in diagnostic imaging, customer service skills, and basic computer skills (Microsoft Office proficiency).
  • Desirable: Basic mechanical workshop skills and an interest in developing innovative solutions.
  • Experience: No experience is required, full training provided (preferably biomedical or imaging background)
Performance Indicators:
  • Demonstrates an ability to learn and operate effectively in hospital environments and team settings.
  • Completion of scheduled training and certifications.
  • Accurate and timely documentation of maintenance activities.
Additional Requirements:
  • Full, clean UK driving license.
  • Willingness to travel across the UK and occasionally internationally for training.
  • Enhanced DBS Disclosure (required for all applicants).
