My client, a leading independent clinical testing laboratory based in Chiswick, are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Medical Laboratory Assistant with outstanding customer service skills to join their team. This is a permanent role, full time.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Assisting and supporting Biomedical scientists in providing a professional effective pathology laboratory service
  • Process patient samples in good time and make sure that turnaround times for reporting results are achieved and maintained.
  • Identify and troubleshoot issues with specimens or analytical equipment.
  • Accurately labelling and sorting samples
  • Data entry using the laboratory Information System (LIMS)
  • Pre analytical processing of samples
  • Preparing reagents and managing consumables
  • Maintain and run specialist lab equipment
  • Temperature monitoring
  • Monitoring of stock levels
  • Daily decontamination and cleaning of laboratory equipment and work areas
  • Disposing of chemical and biological waste
  • Keeping up to date with filling records
  • Answering telephone enquiries professional and appropriately.

Requirements:

  • Work experience in a diagnostic laboratory – 12 months minimum
  • Demonstrable technical skills in pathology disciplines and the use of Laboratory systems
  • High attention to detail and ability to follow lab protocols
  • Some theoretical and practical knowledge of pathology is desirable but not essential
  • Strong data inputting skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Biological or Biomedical sciences
