AKTON Recruitment is working closely with the local authorities and we are looking for a Senior Direct Payments Support Officer / Senior Brokerage Officer in the Tower Hamlets area. 3 - 6 months contract with chance of extension, ideal for those who are looking for a short term contract.

JOB SUMMARY:

  • Implementation projects and priorities that are relevant to direct payments and provide a lead role for the service regarding policy, procedure, and knowledge in those areas.
  • To provide line management support to staff employed within the direct payment support service. To co-ordinate a range of information and performance data to enable effective reporting of key performance indicators for the service. To take a lead co-ordination role in facilitating the growth of the local supply of personal assistants by promoting care as a career.
  • Work within a wider service to provide a range of advice, support, and guidance to TH residents in receipt of social care and/or health funding including direct payments and personal health budgets. This will include supporting residents to develop skills to manage their own social care and/or health funding via the use of a direct payment or personal health budget, and promote living independently in the community.
  • To co-ordinate a duty Direct Payments service, ensuring advice, information, and support is available to residents, practitioners, and other stakeholders
  • Work collaboratively with the wider operational management team for the service to achieve service and directorate objectives.
  • To carry out all duties in a flexible manner, this may involve occasional evenings, weekends and public holidays in order to meet service requirements.


ROLE REQUIREMENTS:
1. Maintain current knowledge of national frameworks and legislation pertaining to the role which could include direct payments, personal health budgets, and personalisation
2. To provide day-to-day advice, support, and guidance to Direct Payment Support Officers to ensure the delivery of a high-quality service that translates individuals' Support Plans into effective and appropriate packages of support that offer good value for money
3. To ensure that the Council's ICT case management/workflow solution is used by staff to record interventions and work undertaken and contribute to any improvements for the system to enhance processes and performance
4. To ensure that all Direct Payments are costed accurately with agreed suppliers accordingly and that all requests are quality assured using local procedures to achieve best value
5. To ensure that effective and appropriate arrangements are in place for managing Personal Budgets and paying Personal Budgets as Direct Payments to individuals
