Sterling Williams are working with an International Wholesale Bank based in the City of London who are looking to hire a Risk and Control Analyst on a permanent basis. If you have a 2.1 degree and experience spanning 1 - 4 years within a risk, controls, or analytics capacity from within a bank; we’d love to hear from you.

This is a permanent role, is City of London based and the bank operates in the office 4 days per week, with 1 day working from home.

The Risk Department is responsible for the risk management framework throughout the bank, undertaking monitoring and analysis of the whole risk profile to ensure risk policies (market, credit, liquidity, operational, financial crime, IT systems and business continuity, conduct and reputational, etc.) are implemented efficiently and effectively across all business lines.

The successful Risk Control Analyst will support and assist the risk department in the day-to-day delivery of the Risk Management function. This is an excellent opportunity for a junior risk professional to gain hands-on experience across a broad spectrum.

  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of various risk management areas, including credit, market, operational, and liquidity risk.
  • Provide the support in the day-to-day delivery of the Risk Management Framework, assisting with limit monitoring, daily and periodic reporting, and resolving ad-hoc issues, and maintain the reporting tool as required.
  • Assist in running the liquidity risk and stress testing report, provide analysis and ensure the accuracy and timeliness of information provided.
  • Collect the departmental monthly Operational Risk KRI from the Heads of Departments, assist the Head of risk to conduct operational risk self-assessments quarterly
  • Ensure timely production and accurate delivery of risk regulatory reports.
  • Provide support in monitoring and reporting of operational incidents impacting the branch.
  • Provide support in maintaining spreadsheets, including basic VBA coding.

The successful Risk and Control Analyst will likely have:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree with a 2:1
  • Experience: 1 - 3 years of working experience in a regulated business, particularly in areas related to analytics and control functions.
  • Knowledge: Basic understanding of financial risk and banking products.
  • Proficiency in Excel; programming skills are a plus - alongside strong analytical skills
  • Self-starter with excellent initiative, attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
