We are seeking a Senior Structural Engineer with a strong background in the transport and infrastructure sectors to join our growing team. This position offers a unique opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects, including new builds, refurbishments, and cut-and-carve schemes across large-scale developments. The role will focus on overseeing the design and delivery of high-profile projects, including developments valued at over 100 million. You will be involved in all phases of a project, from initial surveys and design reviews to final delivery, ensuring high-quality and efficient results.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Design and Delivery:

    • Lead the design and delivery of structural engineering solutions for transport and infrastructure projects, including new builds, refurbishments, and cut-and-carve schemes.
    • Oversee all stages of design and implementation, ensuring compliance with relevant codes, regulations, and client requirements.
    • Conduct detailed reviews of structural designs, providing input and guidance to improve design efficiency and quality.
    • Develop and maintain close relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and consultants.
  2. Project Management:

    • Manage multiple large-scale projects simultaneously, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.
    • Coordinate site surveys, investigations, and data collection to inform the design process.
    • Monitor and review the performance of junior engineers, providing mentorship and guidance as they progress toward chartership.
  3. Technical Expertise:

    • Apply engineering principles to address complex structural challenges, ensuring robust, safe, and sustainable solutions.
    • Provide technical leadership in structural design, including conceptual and detailed design, calculations, and specifications.
    • Perform design reviews and lead technical meetings with project teams to resolve any issues and ensure high-quality delivery.
  4. Collaboration and Team Leadership:

    • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including architects, civil engineers, and other stakeholders, to deliver integrated transport and infrastructure projects.
    • Act as a key liaison between clients, contractors, and design teams to ensure successful project outcomes.
    • Mentor junior engineers and support their professional development, particularly with respect to gaining chartered status.
  5. Large-Scale Project Involvement:

    • Contribute to the development of significant projects valued at over 100 million, including transport infrastructure, urban developments, and large mixed-use developments.
    • Provide expertise in both existing and new infrastructure, working across diverse sectors including public transport, road networks, and commercial developments.
  6. Surveys and Site Assessments:

    • Lead site surveys, gather data, and assess the condition of existing structures to inform design solutions.
    • Carry out site visits to ensure work is progressing according to plan and that designs are being implemented correctly.
