Main PurposeÂ
•   The post-holder will be expected to manage all aspects of teaching and learning as set out in the Teachers Standards document.Â
•   The post-holder will be responsible for delivering high quality teaching and learning for the pupils who are assigned to themÂ
•   The post-holder will be expected to be an effective and reflective classroom teacher able to demonstrate and share good practice.Â
•   The post holder will be expected to plan and prepare lessons with regard to individual need, with reference to school and Trust policies.
The successful candidate will be required to exercise their professional skills and judgement to carry out the professional duties set out below in a collaborative manner.Â
•   Encourage pupils’ motivation and enthusiasm, securing positive attitudes to learning and high standards of behaviour and discipline across the school.Â
•   Monitor, evaluate, review pupils’ progress, achievement and attainment regularly and to ensure appropriate action plans are in place where issues are identified.Â
•   Monitor, evaluate and review the quality of learning and teaching in accordance with school policy.Â
•   Prepare displays, prepare assemblies, organise and lead parents meetings as appropriate. Support curriculum leaders in the development and implementation of curricular and cross curricular initiatives.Â
•   Support the pastoral care of pupils across the school.Â
•   In conjunction with the educational visits curriculum leader, oversee the organisation of educational visits and curriculum enrichment activities within the phase.Â
•   Work collaboratively with all members of staff, including staff from the ASD unit.Â
•   Ensure all teaching is inclusive of all children.Â
•   Ensure the promotion of methods that enable all pupils to learn effectively, including Home Learning.Â
•   Identify own professional development needs and ensure that these needs are addressed through appropriate training.Â
•   Disseminate examples of ‘good practice’ in learning and teaching, effective planning and provision across the school.
Person Specification:
•   Comprehensive understanding and/or experience of delivering the National curriculumÂ
•   Knowledge and experience of the characteristics of high quality teaching and learning to secure progress and achievement for all pupils.Â
•   Ability to / commitment to deliver at least consistent ‘good’ teachingÂ
•   Knowledge and experience of effective assessment and planning techniques including AFL.
•   Understanding of the issues of working in an inner city school.Â
•   A confident communicator with good listening skillsÂ
•   Able to create a stimulating learning environmentÂ
•   Creative ideas to inspire learningÂ
•   A strong team player who values the opportunity to work with others and work collaborativelyÂ
•   A commitment to contribute to the community ethos within the schoolÂ
•   Shows an understanding of different behavioural needsÂ
•   Open to new ideas and fresh challengesÂ
•   Understands the nature of inclusivity
