The role

Join Southwark Music, part of the SE London Music Hub, and play a pivotal role in enriching the lives of children and young people through music. We are looking for passionate and skilled Instrumental Music Tutors to deliver outstanding music education in primary schools across Southwark. We are particularly keen to hear from violin, ukulele, music tech and woodwind teachers. As part of our dynamic team, you will:

- Teach instrumental and vocal music to children with varying musical abilities in whole-class or small-group settings.

- Plan and deliver engaging lessons, aligning with Southwark Music’s curriculum and standards.

- Inspire a love for music through innovative teaching methods, fostering confidence and creativity in young learners.

- Organise and participate in exciting performance opportunities for students, promoting their musical growth.

- Receive comprehensive training, mentoring, and support to help you excel in your role.

This casual employment opportunity offers flexibility while enabling you to make a meaningful impact on young lives through the power of music. The recommended hourly rate is £38.52 - £42.80.

About You

We are seeking individuals who are not only talented musicians but also exceptional educators. To succeed in this role, you will need:

- A degree or equivalent professional qualification in music or music education.

- A passion for music education and the ability to inspire and enthuse children within a positive learning environment.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling you to connect effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.

- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the diverse needs of schools and pupils.

- Strong organisational and time management skills.

- A commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in music education.

Experience in teaching music, particularly in group or whole-class settings, is essential, along with the ability to travel between schools as required.
