A key senior role in the organisation, the Academic Registrar has responsibility for academic administrative policies, procedures and systems and the production of student data for reporting purposes. The Academic Registrar leads on all external regulatory processes and works closely with Course Directors to ensure regulatory and academic compliance.

This is a part-time role, 14 hours/2 days per week.
The role can be conducted remotely, though there will be on-site attendance for senior management meetings.

THE ORGANISATION:
The Institute for Arts in Therapy & Education (IATE) is one of London’s most prestigious independent therapy training institutions, with over 30 years of standing, and approximately 300 on-site students enrolled. The organisation is a full member of the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP), British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the government body, Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and is a partner of the University of East London (UEL).

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
•   Being the intermediary between IATE and partner university UEL and psychotherapy/counselling regulatory bodies UKCP, BACP and HCPC.
•   With Course Directors, overseeing the student journey, including recording assessment marks, overseeing exam boards, liaising with external examiners, ensuring the safe running of panel/academic processes.
•   Oversight of assessment administration.
•   Preparation of exam boards.
•   Being the primary point of contact with UEL departments (e.g. Student Records).
•   Ensuring course documentation complies with University and accrediting body standards.
•   Devising new processes and updating policies as appropriate.
•   Reviewing academic administrative schedules and ensuring deadlines are met.
•   Fielding or handling academic misconduct issues or complaints.
•   Preparing documentation for external audits.
•   With Course Directors, preparing any new course submission documents.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
•   Previous experience as an Academic Registrar or in a senior academic administrative role.
•   Undergraduate degree, and/or professional qualification.
•   Extensive knowledge and experience of the Higher Education sector.
•   Extensive experience of working within a regulatory framework.
•   An excellent understanding and working knowledge of all aspects of UK academic-related governance, regulations, administration and organisational management in an educational institution.
•   Ability to write clearly and concisely and present information to disseminate management information on a regular and timely basis.
