The Rail Infrastructure MEP team is a small, but highly motivated and creative group, responsible for the provision of consultancy and design services related to MEP works in the UK.
The MEP team is an integral part of the company's UK rail business. It contributes through the provision of standalone services and as part of an integrated multi-disciplinary project team.
Our client work on all types of rail systems: passenger, freight, heavy rail, light rail, monorails and metros. Clients can range from high profile clients, such as the Office of Rail and Road, local government, multi-national transport operators, Network Rail, Transport for London, London underground/overground, major financial institutions or banks, to other clients, such as other consultancies, contractors and individual train operators.
We are seeking an experiencedElectrical CREto join our team, focusing on rail upgrade projects, specifically comms and OHL. As the Electrical Contractors Responsible Engineer (CRE), you will play a critical role in ensuring that all electrical designs, installations, and commissioning activities meet the highest safety and quality standards, in line with Network Rail/TFL standards and project requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, verification, and approval of electrical systems for rail stations, including power, lighting, and control systems.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant railway standards, including NR/L2/INI/02009 and BS7671.
- Collaborate with project teams, designers, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems.
- Manage electrical engineering risks and identify mitigation strategies.
- Provide technical guidance and support during installation and commissioning phases.
- Attend site visits, inspections, and client meetings as required.
- Review and sign off on design submissions, ensuring adherence to project requirements.
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
- Proven experience as a CRE within the rail sector, specifically on station projects.
- In-depth knowledge of railway standards, including Network Rail procedures.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, including LV and HV installations.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or working towards it.
- Experience with Building Information Modeling (BIM) and relevant software.
- Familiarity with energy-efficient and sustainable design practices.
