We are seeking a dedicated and experienced SpLD Assessor to join our team at a leading Further Education and Training College in South London. The successful candidate will play a key role in guiding and aiding students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) by assessing and recommending appropriate exam access arrangements for SpLD.

Key Duties of an SpLD Assessor:

  • Conduct access arrangements assessments for students with SpLD
  • Provide recommendations for exam accommodations, such as extra time, readers, scribes and modified papers
  • Work closely with students to ensure they receive the appropriate help
  • Liaise with teaching staff, SENCOs, and exam boards to ensure compliance with exam regulations
  • Maintain accurate records of assessments and outcomes
  • Monitor and review the effectiveness of access arrangements during exams

Essential Requirements of an SpLD Assessor:

  • Experience in conducting access arrangements assessments, including experience with the JCQ Access Arrangements guidelines within Further Education and Training
  • A relevant qualification in assessing specific learning difficulties (e.g., SpLD Assessment Practising Certificate)
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (mandatory)
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work with students, staff and external bodies
  • A dedication to helping students to achieve their potential in an inclusive environment

Desirable for the SpLD Assessor:

  • Previous experience working in a Further Education and Training setting
  • Knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and other relevant educational legislation
