MERJE has partnered with a high profile well reputed within professional services firm, and we're on the lookout for a Compliance Director to join their high-performing financial services regulatory compliance team. This is an exciting role offering the chance to collaborate with experienced compliance and legal professionals, working on a broad range of regulatory compliance and financial crime matters. The role is open to candidates based in either Leeds or London, with a hybrid working policy of three days per week in the office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide regulatory compliance support, including authorisations and applications to the FCA/PRA, governance under SMCR, and advising on all aspects of the FCA and PRA handbooks.
  • Draft regulatory business plans and policies, especially for new market entrants, ensuring technical accuracy comparable to law firm standards.
  • Deliver quality work to multiple clients within tight timescales, with strong workload management skills.
  • Support clients with FCA and PRA authorisations, regulatory due diligence, and compliance system assurance reviews.
  • Engage in client relationship development, marketing, knowledge sharing, and practice development.
  • Offer technical advice on governance, compliance frameworks, and regulatory change, including Consumer Duty and appointed representatives.
  • Provide training, prepare clients for regulatory visits, and manage regulatory enquiries and enforcement actions.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Extensive experience in regulatory compliance, ideally at a senior level within an authorised firm or compliance consultancy.
  • Detailed technical understanding of FCA and PRA rules, along with knowledge of regulatory changes and upcoming deadlines.
  • Experience working with key clients such as Tier One banks, challenger banks, building societies, payment firms, and new market entrants.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines.
  • A proactive approach to business development, client relationship management, and knowledge sharing.
