Job Title: Compliance Officer Location: LondonFull time: Monday to Friday, 9:00am - 5:30pmDepartment: Risk and ComplianceHydrogen Group are supporting our Banking client in search of a proactive and detail-oriented Compliance Officer to join their Risk and Compliance team in London. About the RoleAs Compliance Officer, you will play a pivotal role in the second line of defence, supporting the delivery of the Compliance Monitoring Plan. You'll conduct thematic and assurance reviews, contribute to regulatory horizon scanning, and provide expert guidance across the Bank to promote a strong risk-aware culture.This role involves regular interaction with senior compliance stakeholders and provides a broad platform to influence and drive regulatory excellence within the organisation.What You'll Be Doing
- Execute thematic reviews and quality assurance testing as part of the annual Compliance Monitoring Plan.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of first-line controls, including those relating to customer outcomes, complaints handling, and vulnerable customer treatment.
- Provide accurate, timely reporting and actionable insights to senior Compliance Management.
- Support the development and maintenance of departmental policies and procedures.
- Work cross-functionally to support the closure of corrective action plans and regulatory change responses.
- Contribute to monthly compliance and risk reporting to internal committees.
- Support key compliance initiatives, including SM&CR oversight and the annual training plan.
- Stay ahead of regulatory changes and translate them into practical, business-focused guidance.
What We're Looking ForPlease note: This role is focused on compliance monitoring and regulatory assurance. While experience in Financial Crime may be valuable, this position is not aligned with an AML or Financial Crime specialism.Essential:
- Experience working in a compliance function within a regulated financial services organisation.
- Strong knowledge of UK regulatory frameworks, particularly FCA and PRA requirements.
- Proven ability to deliver compliance monitoring and thematic reviews.
- Experience in risk-based assurance and conduct risk assessments.
- Excellent communication and report writing skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- Self-motivated with a professional, solutions-driven approach.
Preferred:
- Working knowledge of FCA Principles for Business, TCF, Consumer Duty, and CCA regulation.
- Experience in policy governance and management.
- Professional qualifications (e.g., ICA, IRM) or working towards certification.
