We are looking for a dedicated and proactive HR Compliance Officer to join our team at Haringey Council. If you have a passion for delivering excellent customer service, experience in employee screening, and a strong understanding of HR processes, this is an exciting opportunity for you to make a real impact.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver high-quality, accurate onboarding and employment screening services for our candidates, ensuring we meet or exceed Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Work closely with the resourcing team to process compliance documentation in line with Haringey Council's Recruitment Policy.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to candidates, assisting them through the compliance and screening process.
  • Ensure confidentiality at all times when handling sensitive information and follow the appropriate safeguarding protocols.
  • Review DBS certificate disclosures, working with the Senior HR Officer to assess them against Haringey Council's Recruitment of Ex-Offenders Policy.
  • Coordinate right-to-work document checks with flexibility to meet candidates' needs.
  • Maintain HR data integrity and contribute to continuous service improvements, including increasing digital usage across HR systems.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
  • Essential:
    • Experience of employee screening, compliance, and right-to-work checks.
    • Excellent customer service and communication skills (both written and verbal).
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while delivering a first-class service.
    • Strong teamwork skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Desirable:
    • Experience with recruitment and onboarding in a medium-sized organisation.
    • Knowledge of UK regulatory, legislative, and local council requirements.
    • Experience using compliance software and HR systems.
    • Digital transformation experience to improve and streamline services.
