Our client based in North West London, are looking for a Service Charge Manager on a temporary ongoing contract to backfill a role.

The role is a full-time hybrid position, two days onsite per week, Wednesday and one other. The daily rate for this role is up to £250.00 per day.

Our client is looking for a skilled individual, ideally with staff management experience who can take full accountability for the service charge function within the organisation.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Hold responsibility for setting the annual service charge expenditure and income budget across all tenures within the London and Hertfordshire region
  • Being accountable for the annual service charge estimate and final account process, ensuring the risk associated with rechargeable service charges is effectively managed and regulatory time scales are met
  • Working collaboratively with senior managers and teams across the business to support continuous service improvement and deliver excellent customer service to customers across different tenure types ensuring compliance with legal requirements and accurate validation of service charges for customers
  • Managing and maintaining the integrity of service charges applications, people, processes, and systems ensuring they are robust and fit for purpose
  • Partnering with the business, develop and maintain a housing management/service charge system to produce estimates & actuals accurately and in accordance with legal requirements
  • Reviewing and approving the certification of annual service charges, documenting the calculation and apportionment process, including the reports and supporting documentation to facilitate the certification
  • Managing the Service Charge team with a focus on articulating a clear vision, providing direction, and fostering a culture of accountability, high performance, and continuous improvement

Experience, skills and expertise required:

  • Good knowledge of the SUN financial system
  • Must be adept in managing fixed and variable charges in large complex settings
  • Demonstrates a proactive can-do problem-solving approach, with high level of attention to detail
  • Knowledge of Service Charge Legislation, including Landlords and Tenant Act 1985, Commonhold and Leasehold Reform Act 2002, Service Charge (Consultation Requirements) (England) Regulations 2003)
  • Experience of leases and tenancy agreements, and their varying terms
  • Effective communication, numerical and analytical skills with an ability to interpret data
  • Exceptional organisational skills and the ability to prioritise own workload effectively

Working hours:

  • 37 hours per week
  • Monday - Friday
  • Two days on site (Wednesday and one other)
