Senior/Principal Carbon and Climate Change Consultant

Allen & York are excited to be working with a creative, forward-thinking environmental consultancy, providing environmental advice and design solutions to a variety of clients.

Our client is looking for an energetic Senior/Principal Carbon and Climate Change Consultant to support on a wide range of projects across sectors including residential, transport, energy, industry and government. This is a client-facing role with responsibility in terms of managing project teams and project delivery. The successful candidate will lead and contribute to the development of proposals for new work and for large and complex public and private sector tenders.

This is an exceptional opportunity at an exciting time for our client, where you'll be playing a pivotal role in the team.

You'll need to have an outstanding track record in the consultancy sector, with extensive experience of developing lifecycle GHG footprints and GHG assessment in accordance with published guidance (e.g. GHG Protocol, PAS 2080:2023, RICS Whole Life Carbon Assessment for the Built Environment, etc.). With a solid understanding of UK and international climate legislation and policy drivers, you'll have experience in the technical management of carbon and climate change assessments. Skilled in the ability to review and interpret data, you'll have experience in decarbonisation and net zero plans, together with climate risks, mitigation and adaption. An excellent communicator you'll be happy working alone and collaboratively, sharing responsibility for the management of both projects and personnel.

A full UK driving licence would be desirable for this role.

Previous experience of using Life Cycle Assessment tools (e.g. LCA One Click, e-Tool LCD, Wrate, Open LCA), assessment of embodied carbon in buildings and infrastructure, using tools and resources such as EPDs, ICE 3.0 etc. and experience in corporate carbon accounting and reporting would be advantageous to this role.
