Would you love to bring your book production experience to an award-winning, independent London-based children’s publishing company? We have a fabulous new role for an experienced book production professional to join the production team of this highly successful organisation on a 6-month fixed term contract. The Senior Production Controller will be responsible for producing a range of titles, including picture books, mono fiction and novelty titles across the front and backlist, with a high level of autonomy. This role offers hybrid working with three days in the office and two working from home, but we will also consider a candidate who is looking to work 4 days a week, with 2 days in the office.

Reporting to the Senior Production Manager key responsibilities will include:

  • Taking responsibility for your own list (pre-press, sales materials, manufacturing) of front list, co-edition and reprint titles
  • Responsibility for ensuring safety requirements for products as required
  • Liaising with editorial and design teams to ensure workflows are followed accurately
  • Support and manage junior members of the team
  • Working with the rights team and co-edition customers to set up and handle co-edition printing
  • Ensuring all data is kept up to date

The ideal candidate will have proven solid and varied experience of working within a book production department. You will have excellent negotiation, pre-press, print and manufacturing experience, including 4-colour experience, and ideally safety testing knowledge/experience. The ability to multi-task and work to tight deadlines is essential as you will be working across several projects at any given time.
