Project Manager, Mergers and acquisitions

The role of Senior Project Manager - M&A Delivery involves leading and managing the delivery of technology components for divestiture and acquisition projects. This position demands a strong background in project management, particularly in handling complex and sensitive projects within a global enterprise setting. Here’s a breakdown of the key responsibilities, capabilities, and qualifications required for the role:

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Technology Delivery for M&A Projects:

    • Lead the delivery of technology aspects in divestiture and acquisition projects, focusing on complex and commercially sensitive areas.
    • Oversee the implementation of enterprise tech, business tech, and infrastructure projects within the Group Technology portfolio.
  2. Stakeholder Management:

    • Engage with and manage relationships with senior stakeholders, ensuring alignment and communication across all levels of the organization.
    • Balance the needs and objectives of various divisions, redeploying resources as project priorities change.
  3. Project Management:

    • Develop and maintain comprehensive technology business cases, project plans, status reports, and CRAID (Constraints, Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies) logs.
    • Manage dependencies across larger programs and sub-portfolios, ensuring smooth integration and delivery.
  4. Continuous Improvement:

    • Act as a driving force for continuous improvement in project governance and delivery methodology.
    • Work closely with the Transformation team to handle impediments and optimize project delivery processes.
  5. Coaching and Leadership:

    • Mentor and coach teams to ensure the success of critical project milestones and events.
    • Establish metrics and success criteria for projects, measuring and communicating progress to stakeholders.
  6. Service Management:

    • Manage ongoing technology service delivery in alignment with agreed Transitional Service Agreements (TSAs).
Capabilities and Experience:
  1. M&A Delivery Experience:

    • Proven experience in delivering complex contractual technical projects, including mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures.
    • Familiarity with working through TSA periods and similar arrangements.
  2. Advanced Planning Skills:

    • Expertise in leading planning processes in complex environments, with the ability to identify and manage dependencies across services.
  3. Agile and Lean Practices:

    • Strong knowledge of Agile and Lean principles, with the ability to coach and lead teams in these methodologies.
    • Continuous reflection and innovation in improving project delivery methods.
  4. Commercial and Financial Management:

    • Capability to manage large-scale commercial and financial aspects of the portfolio, resolving high-risk issues and coaching others in commercial management.
  5. Communication and Collaboration:

    • Strong communication and mediation skills, with the ability to manage stakeholder expectations and facilitate discussions on high-risk issues.
    • Ability to solve and unblock delivery issues, promoting collaboration across teams and departments.
  6. Process Optimization:

    • Skilled in identifying and challenging complex organizational processes, driving improvements, and guiding teams through new process implementations.
Managerial Experience:
  • Experience in relationship management with senior stakeholders.
  • Proven track record of leading and motivating teams.
  • Experience in building and nurturing small teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment.
Professional Qualifications:
  • PMP or PRINCE2 certification is required.
  • Additional certifications in Agile frameworks, such as SAFe SPC, are highly desirable.
Skills and Expertise:
  • Strong experience in delivering M&A technical projects at scale in a global enterprise environment.
  • Adept at influencing and championing ideas in environments characterized by change and uncertainty.
