London Fire Brigade, one the largest public sector organisation based in London are looking to recruit an Internal Communication and Engagement Officer to join their growing team. The role is for an initial 3-month contract with a view to extend if all goes well. The role is full time, Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week with hybrid work (2 days in the office and 3 from home) based at their office near London Bridge and Southwark station.

Pay rate: £24.67 per hour PAYE or £31.45 per hour Umbrella

Job Purpose:

The people services have been going through a huge transformation after the conclusion of cultural review carried out last year. Therefore, a need to engage wide groups of colleagues in changes has escalated, as the programmes and projects covered by Culture Transformation and elsewhere have accelerated.   

Key responsibilities:

  • Clarify key areas requiring extensive engagement  
  • Define and deliver engagement activity to support culture transformation project teams 
  • Coordinate on communication requirements that support engagement 
  • Produce clear comms objectives against which project plans and communication strategies can be developed, in each prioritised engagement area 
  • Produce events and communication materials as part of the wider internal communication activity 
  • Review requirements relating to Wellbeing, People Services Transformation, our Advisory Panel, and the work with Equality Support Groups, and prioritise key where increased engagement is critical 
  • Work with project teams to develop plans of engagement 
  • Participate in relevant agenda items of selected working groups 
  • Develop corresponding communication strategies to support the engagement 
  • Coordinate fully with internal communication colleagues 
  • Deliver engagement activities 
  • Produce supporting communication material / events – e.g. additional material for core channels e.g. LFB Update, Hotwire to generate increased engagement on key culture topics
