Company Overview:Our client, a leader in the Smart Building Energy Systems sector, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Quantity Surveyor to oversee both pre- and post-contract commercial functions. This role is critical in ensuring the successful financial management of large-scale projects, ranging from £2m to £50m Total Contract Value (TCV). You will provide leadership in managing risk, cost, and profitability, while ensuring compliance with company strategy and budget.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Bid Support & Contract Negotiation:Provide support to the bid team by identifying risks and negotiating contracts in alignment with company policies and procedures.
  • Contract & Commercial Management:Lead the upstream and downstream contract and commercial management for large projects, collaborating closely with Project Managers to manage contracts effectively.
  • Payment & Billing Management:Ensure that applications for payment are submitted, and billing occurs in accordance with the terms of the contracts.
  • Risk & Profitability Management:Manage risk and profitability across the entire project portfolio, with a specific focus on larger, high-value projects. Assist with forecasting and budgeting processes.
  • Project Reviews & Commercial Positioning:Actively participate in monthly project reviews and assess the commercial status of projects, providing insight and raising risks to the management team as needed.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Experience:
    • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor on projects valued at £2m+.
    • Expertise in Government Frameworks and Call-Off Contracts.
    • In-depth knowledge of standard form contracts, particularly NEC, JCT, and FIDIC.
  • Skills:
    • Strong financial control experience, including cost management and control processes.
    • Proficient in dispute resolution and navigating complex commercial challenges.
  • Personal Attributes:
    • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
    • Strategic thinker with a meticulous approach to managing risk and profitability.
