A Tier 1 utilities contractor is looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial management of two significant pipe-laying projects in Reading and Oxford, delivered for Thames Water. This hybrid role offers a 3/2 split between site and home working, alongside a competitive salary and excellent benefits.

About the role of Senior Quantity Surveyor

As part of a high-performing commercial team, you will play a vital role in managing costs, contracts, and procurement for two major water infrastructure projects. You will work closely with Thames Water and project stakeholders, ensuring financial efficiency and project success. With a hybrid working model, you'll split your time between site visits and remote working.

Responsibilities for Senior Quantity Surveyor:

  • Oversee commercial management of pipe-laying projects in Reading and Oxford.
  • Prepare and manage valuations
  • Lead subcontractor procurement, cost management, and contract administration.
  • Ensure compliance with NEC contracts and manage risk effectively.
  • Handle cost variations, budget tracking, and financial reporting.
  • Work closely with project teams, stakeholders, and Thames Water representatives.
  • Provide strategic commercial input to optimize project profitability and efficiency

Requirements for Senior Quantity Surveyor

  • Experience in the utilities sector, particularly water or pipeline projects.
  • Strong knowledge of NEC contracts and commercial risk management.
  • Excellent cost control, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple commercial functions within a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong IT proficiency, including cost management software and Microsoft Excel.
