Medical Receptionist/Administrator

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Medical Receptionist/Administrator to join our client's busy GP practice in Islington. This is a full-time, permanent position for 37.5 hours per week, with an annual salary of up to £26,000.
Operating Hours
- Practice open: Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 18:30
- Extended hours on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday until 20:00
- Closed on weekends and bank holidays
Actual Working Hours
Successful candidates will work a standard 37.5-hour week, with shifts scheduled within the practice's operating hours. Specific shift patterns will be discussed during the interview process and may include early, late, or standard office hours.
Salary and Benefits
- Annual Salary: £25,000 - £26,000 per annum
- Full-time: 37.5 hours per week

Requirements
- Minimum 1 year experience in a GP setting
- Proficiency in EMIS and Docman systems
- Formal qualification in Maths and English
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
Main Duties
- Rotate between reception and patient administration areas
- Support Team Leader in managing clinicians' workload
- Organise practice meetings and liaise with external agencies
- Manage bring forward and filing systems
- Participate in practice housekeeping and maintenance of staff facilities
- Actively contribute to improving practice quality
- Greet patients and visitors to the practice
- Book, amend, and cancel patient appointments in line with practice procedures
- Handle telephone, face-to-face, and electronic enquiries efficiently and courteously
- Process requests for home visits
- Assist patients in accessing practice services and those available in the wider community
Additional Responsibilities
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to data protection guidelines
- Participate in team meetings and training sessions
- Assist with general administrative tasks as required
In order to succeed in this role, you must be able to multitask, manage time effectively, and work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Ideally you should have a good understanding of healthcare terminology and be committed to providing excellent patient care.
