Retail Assistant - Christmas Temp

Are you looking for a festive opportunity to display your retail skills. Our client, a prestigious Civil Service organisation, is seeking Retail Assistants to join their dynamic and changing team during the busy Christmas period. As a Retail Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional customer service to a wide range of external and internal customers, including key stakeholders.

Job title: Retail Assistant

  • Contract type: Temporary, fixed-term until mid-December (exact finish date to be confirmed)
  • Salary: Competitive hourly rate starting from £14.00
  • Location: Palace of Westminster, London (Central)
  • Number of posts: two

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver exceptional customer service, upholding the organisation's customer service charter.
  • Display product knowledge and apply tactful sales techniques to maximise sales.
  • Contribute towards daily sales targets through effective selling skills and excellent product knowledge.
  • Become familiar with the department's services to handle customer queries.
  • Promote the online shop in line with customer service standards.
  • Accurately manage till operations and end-of-day cashing up procedures.
  • Collaborate with Retail Managers and the back-office team to replenish stock and merchandise displays effectively.

Requirements:

  • Relevant experience in a retail environment with a proven track record of increasing sales.
  • Stockroom/warehouse experience with knowledge of Health and Safety and Manual Handling.
  • Experience delivering excellent customer service to a diverse customer base, upholding diversity, equality, and inclusion principles.
  • Strong team player with excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to work under pressure and prioritise workload.

- Desirable: Experience with till operations and basic MS Office computer skills.
