About the Role:
Long Term Futures is partnering with a dynamic secondary school in Hackney, E5, to appoint a dedicated Academic Tutor for a full-time role supporting Year 11 students in preparation for their English and Maths GCSE examinations.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious, self-motivated individual to make a significant impact on students' academic progress. Working closely with teachers, you will deliver tailored interventions to address students' specific learning needs across a range of abilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide focused tuition in English and Maths to small groups of Year 11 students preparing for GCSE exams
  • Adapt teaching approaches to meet the diverse academic needs of learners
  • Collaborate with subject teachers to plan effective strategies for improving student outcomes
  • Identify gaps in learning and deliver targeted interventions to close these gaps
  • Use varied strategies to engage students with different learning styles and ensure progress
  • Support students during lessons and study sessions, fostering confidence and independence

What We're Looking For:

  • A degree in English, Maths, or Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is desirable
  • Previous experience providing small group tuition or one-to-one tutoring
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to quickly build rapport with students
  • A proactive, engaging, and patient approach to supporting academic progress
  • An Enhanced DBS certificate (we can support with obtaining this if needed)

Additional Information:

  • Full-time role, Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM
  • Competitive pay of 20 per hour
  • Based in Hackney, E5, with excellent public transport links
  • Start date: January 2025
