Are you passionate about supporting young people in their learning and development?
I am seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and reliable Secondary Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant and supportive secondary team. This is an exciting opportunity to play an integral role in helping students achieve their potential in a diverse and inclusive educational environment. If you have a passion for education and want to make a positive difference in the lives of students, please apply.

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside classroom teachers, providing vital support to students both in and out of the classroom. You will help create an engaging, inclusive, and nurturing environment that allows students to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist teaching staff in the delivery of lessons, ensuring that students are engaged and on task.
  • Support students with additional needs, including those with special educational needs (SEN), ensuring that their individual requirements are met.
  • Provide one-to-one or small group support to students who require extra help with their learning, encouraging their confidence and independence.
  • Help manage classroom behaviour, ensuring that a positive and productive learning environment is maintained.
  • Support students during practical activities, such as experiments or group projects, ensuring their safety and wellbeing.
  • Assist in the preparation of teaching materials, resources, and classroom displays to enhance the learning environment.
  • Encourage student participation and engagement, offering praise and support to build self-esteem.
  • Monitor and track students' progress, reporting observations and feedback to teaching staff.
  • Help with administrative tasks, such as preparing resources, grading non-assessed work, or maintaining student records.
  • Provide pastoral support to students, offering guidance and assistance with personal or academic concerns.
  • Contribute to the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs) or behaviour plans for students with specific needs.

About You:
To be successful in this role, you will:

  • Have a genuine interest in working with young people and a passion for education.
  • Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and parents.
  • Be proactive, adaptable, and confident in assisting with the delivery of lessons across a variety of subjects.
  • Have patience, empathy, and the ability to build positive relationships with students, supporting their social and emotional development.
  • Be well-organised and able to manage multiple tasks in a busy school environment.
  • Have the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A relevant qualification in education or childcare (such as a Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification) is desirable, but not essential.
  • Previous experience working with secondary-aged students, especially those with SEN, is advantageous but not essential.

Empowering Learning is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. We expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
