Effective security plays a vital role within the UK Operation, given the nature of the business and our commitment to providing outstanding customer service. Security within the business also extends to the requirement to ensure that our employees and property are safeguarded at all times.

The Company therefore has three main security objectives:

• To protect company personnel whilst on duty

• To protect customer goods whilst in our care

• To protect company property and equipment

Local management is responsible for the security of their depots/sites on a day basis with the Security Department providing direct overall support. The Security Department must operate in a customer-facing manner with a responsibility for the security of our depots (our internal customers) and also our external customers’ goods whilst in transit.

Every attempt must be made to work in a proactive manner to prevent loss and improve and sustain effective security. However, it is understood that some reactive work will be required from time to time.

Key Tasks/Areas of Responsibility

1. Geographical area of responsibility

Your geographical area of responsibility within the business is directed by the General Manager of Security.

2. Company Security Policy/Strategy

Implementation of company security policy and strategy as directed by the General Manager of Security.

3. Security Related Matters

Provide advice and support to your depots/areas of responsibility on all security related matters including:

• Physical Security

• Operational security

• Administrative Security

4. Security Action Plan

Ensure your Depots have a security action plan for the maintenance and improvement of security on their sites to fulfill the company’s main security objectives.

5. Security Audits & Risk Assessments

Conduct security audits & Risk Assessments and follow up reviews on your depots in accordance with company schedule's to ensure compliance by depots to current policy and legal requirements. Risk Assessments to be carried out annually.

6. Investigations

Conduct thorough investigations when tasked by your reporting manager or when a security incident occurs submitting a full report making recommendations where necessary to prevent any reoccurrence and improve security.

7. Loss Reduction

To analyse and interrogate the company systems to identify trends and patterns of loss within your area of responsibility and reduce loss paid claims through intervention and Loss Investigation.

Ensure best practice and compliance is adhered to. Review and act on all security escalations within your area of responsibility within a timely manner

External Customers

• Customer Visits

Liaise with and visit external customers on security related issues when necessary or tasked by your reporting manager, working closely with them (particularly major accounts) in a proactive manner to ensure effective security is maintained.

• Security Advice

Offer advice to our external customers if invited to do so on their own security measures to improve the standards of security and the safety of their goods whilst in transit.

Other areas

• Liaise with external agencies e.g. the police, when required to do so to assist our overall security and investigations.

• When at depots/sites if you identify any bad practices by employees or damaged equipment that may result in injury or breaches of the company’s Occupational Health and Safety procedures then immediately raise the matter with local management and inform the General Manager of Security.

• Carry out any reasonable management or company instruction when advised to do so by the General Manager of Security.
