Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert legal counsel on a wide range of commercial matters, including large outsourcing agreements and operational services agreements.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial contracts, including standard form construction and engineering contracts (CCS and NEC suites).
  • Advise on risk management and compliance, ensuring the business operates within relevant legal and regulatory frameworks.
  • Influence and engage effectively with senior leadership and external stakeholders, delivering clear, concise, and solution-focused legal advice.
  • Manage external legal service providers and oversee dispute resolution and litigation matters when required.
  • Work collaboratively across departments to support key business initiatives and decision-making.
  • Travel to London and across the UK as required for negotiations and stakeholder meetings. Remote working arrangements will be available.

Candidate Criteria:

  • UK Qualified Solicitor with a minimum of seven years PQE with a solid background handling a broad range of general commercial agreements.
  • Strong commercial acumen and demonstrable experience advising senior stakeholders, including C-suite executives.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced in-house legal team or a private practice setting.
  • High-level influencing and communication skills, with the ability to provide pragmatic, solution-oriented legal advice.
  • Excellent technical precision and client service ethos.
  • Ability to multitask, manage pressure effectively, and work independently.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, and adaptability to new legal systems.

Desirable Experience:

  • Familiarity with standard form construction and engineering contracts (CCS, JCT or NEC).
  • Experience in PFI and dispute resolution.
  • Background in large-scale outsourcing and commercial contract negotiations, particularly in facilities management.

Location & Working Arrangements:

The role is predominately remote working with some travel to office in London. While remote working arrangements will be available, some ad hoc UK-wide travel will be required for key meetings.
