Autism Support Assistant Responsibilities:
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for children with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) in a specialist Primary provision in Hammersmith & Fulham.
  • Implement structured activities to foster skills in communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation.
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to create a tailored learning experience for each child.
  • Promote sensory-friendly learning strategies that help children feel comfortable and engaged in the classroom.
  • Offer continuous support throughout the school day, encouraging independence and confidence in the students.
  • Collaborate with families and external professionals to provide a holistic approach to student development.
Autism Support Assistant Requirements:
  • Proven experience as an Autism Support Assistant or in a similar SEN role, ideally within a Primary school setting.
  • Strong understanding of Autism and experience with strategies that support social communication and sensory needs.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the patience and empathy to engage with children on the Autism spectrum.
  • An organised and proactive approach to delivering personalised support plans.
