Behaviour Support Worker - Secondary School in Tower Hamlets

If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join a highly regarded secondary school in Tower Hamlets as a Behaviour Support Worker.

In this key role, you will help ensure a safe, secure, and productive learning environment by supporting the smooth movement of pupils throughout the school day. Your presence will contribute to creating a calm and structured atmosphere where all students can focus on their learning.

Role Overview:

As a Behaviour Support Worker, you will be responsible for maintaining a positive atmosphere across the school, supporting students in staying on task and in class, and promoting good behaviour and punctuality. You will play a vital role in supervising key areas of the school, ensuring security, and facilitating smooth transitions between lessons, breaks, and after-school activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Building Patrol: Monitor the school environment to ensure that students are in class and behaving appropriately.
  • Escorting Pupils: Support students who are out of lessons, ensuring they are returned to their appropriate classrooms.
  • Supervision: Oversee key areas including the playground, toilets, restaurant, and garden during breaks to ensure students' safety and positive behaviour.
  • Visitor Support: Welcome visitors and ensure smooth entry into the school.
  • Detention Management: Supervise lunchtime and after-school detentions and ensure that students complete their tasks.
  • School Security: Help manage access to the school building, ensuring the safety of students and staff.
  • Incident Reporting: Keep accurate records of behaviour incidents and updates in the school’s behaviour logs.

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Demonstrate the ability to engage with young people in a firm, calm, and respectful manner.
  • Be confident in managing behaviour and maintaining high standards of punctuality and discipline.
  • Communicate effectively with both students and staff, maintaining professionalism at all times.
  • Value diversity and inclusivity, with a commitment to promoting equal opportunities for all students.
  • Have (or be willing to learn) basic First Aid skills and act as a First Aider if required.
  • Possess a minimum of Level 2 in English and Maths.
  • Be committed to promoting excellent attendance and punctuality within the school community.
