We are seeking a dedicated Residential Childcare Worker to provide high-quality care and support to children and young people within residential services. This role is crucial in maintaining a safe, nurturing, and therapeutic environment that promotes the well-being and development of young people in line with National Standards and Codes of Practice.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Work in a positive, respectful, and empowering manner with all young people to foster good relationships and encourage achievement.
  • Understand and implement the National Care Standards to ensure that outcomes for all young people are recorded and monitored.
  • Provide therapeutic care proactively to all young people.
  • Act as a positive role model, maintaining high professional standards at all times.
  • Maintain the routine physical care, hygiene, and appropriate routines, limits, and boundaries for the young people.
  • Promote and advocate for children's rights as outlined in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.
  • Engage in de-escalation techniques and physical intervention as required.
  • Support and transport young people to activities, family contacts, and other appointments.
  • Act as a key worker for specific young people, supporting the implementation of their individual care plans.
  • Participate in child care reviews and contribute to the assessment and care planning process.
  • Maintain high standards of safe working practices and actively participate in social, recreational, and educational activities with the young people.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience in residential childcare or a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of the National Care Standards and child protection regulations.
  • Ability to act as a role model and advocate for young people.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility to work in different locations as required and participate in a shift system, including evenings and weekends.
