We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Support Worker to join the Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) Team, part of the All Age Disabilities Service within Southwark Council. This is a full-time temporary agency position offering an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of children, young people, and adults with learning disabilities.

About the Service:

The All Age Disabilities (0-25) and Learning Disabilities (25+) services provide an integrated social care pathway for children, young people, and adults with disabilities. The Positive Behaviour Support Team operates alongside the Short Breaks and Children in Need Social Care teams, offering specialist behaviour support across age groups and services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver positive behaviour support interventions through comprehensive assessment and behaviour formulation

  • Develop and implement behaviour support plans tailored to individual needs

  • Provide outreach support in family homes and care settings

  • Promote independence and enhance quality of life for individuals with learning disabilities, autism, and behaviours that challenge

  • Support families and carers through training and advice to build skills and understanding

  • Work collaboratively across teams and within Southwark's Family Hubs, offering early intervention and preventative support

The Team:

You will be working as part of a small, experienced team of four PBS Support Workers, led by a PBS Team Lead and Senior Practitioner who oversee projects and ensure quality service delivery.

Working Pattern:
  • Office based at Queens Road, Peckham

  • Opportunities for remote working (WFH) days available by arrangement

  • Conveniently located next to Queens Road Peckham Overground Station

Requirements:
  • Experience working with individuals with learning disabilities, autism, and behaviours that challenge

  • Knowledge of positive behaviour support principles

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team

  • A commitment to promoting dignity, inclusion, and independence
