About the Role:We are seeking dedicated Communication Support Workers (CSW) with a minimum Level 3 British Sign Language (BSL) qualification . This role is vital in supporting deaf and hard-of-hearing students to access their education effectively, ensuring an inclusive and supportive learning environment.Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality communication support using BSL during lessons, tutorials, and college events.
  • Facilitate effective communication between students, peers, and lecturers.
  • Support students with understanding curriculum content and accessing resources.
  • Work collaboratively with the teaching staff to tailor support to individual student needs.
  • Assist with note-taking and the preparation of accessible materials, as required.
  • Offer guidance and advocacy for students regarding their specific communication needs.
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to regular progress reports.

Essential Requirements:

  • Level 3 (or higher) qualification in British Sign Language (BSL).
  • Proven experience working with deaf or hard-of-hearing individuals, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Strong understanding of the challenges faced by deaf students in accessing education.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion.

Desirable:

  • Experience working in further education or with young adults.
