Learning Support Assistant (Full-Time)
Location: Southfields, SW19
Start Date: February 2024

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join a vibrant and inclusive primary school in Southfields. This full-time role involves providing one-to-one support for a child in Reception who has been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and exhibits challenging behaviours.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Building a positive and trusting relationship with the child, promoting their emotional and social development.
  • Supporting the child in accessing the Early Years curriculum, tailoring activities to meet their individual needs.
  • Implementing strategies to manage and reduce challenging behaviours effectively, following guidance from the school's SENCO and external professionals.
  • Encouraging the child's independence and participation in classroom and school activities.
  • Collaborating closely with teachers, parents, and specialists to ensure a consistent and supportive approach.


The Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience supporting children with ASD and/or additional needs, particularly in an Early Years setting.
  • Calm, patient, and empathetic, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Confident in implementing behaviour management strategies and adapting to the needs of the child.
  • A proactive team player who can work collaboratively with the school staff and contribute to the positive ethos of the school.
  • Knowledge of SEND practices and frameworks is highly desirable.
