We are seeking to appoint a Learning Support Assistant to join our vibrant and welcoming special school at the School.

We are looking for:
•    Positive, energetic and creative learning support assistants with a love of teaching and learning;
•    Applicants who have a keen interest in special needs;
•    People who are able to work in partnership with their class teacher;
•    Learning Support Assistants who have experience in positively managing behaviour;

Experience:
•    Previous successful experience in working with or caring for children with special needs
•    Experience in the care and education of children who are chronologically or developmentally younger than the chronological age
•    Experience of observing, monitoring and evaluating children’s progress.
Knowledge:
•    Alternative communication systems i.e. PECs, Makaton
•    Understanding of basic learning strategies (basic English and Maths should be of a good standard)
•    Understanding of key principles of child development and learning
•    Good knowledge of child protection and Health and Safety procedures
•    Skills:
•    Evidence of commitment to continuous learning within a learning environment.
•    Verbal and written communication skills appropriate to the need to communicate effectively with a wide range of pupils, teachers/carers.
•    Numeracy skills appropriate to the learning levels of the target pupil groups.

The successful candidate will be subject to enhanced clearance through the Disclosure and Barring Service and employment will be subject to references.
