Spencer Clarke Group are seeking a Homelessness Prevention Adviser for a Local Authority Client based in North London.

In this role, you will provide tailored housing advice, support homelessness prevention, and help residents access suitable housing, employment, and financial opportunities.

Key Duties:

  • Provide tailored advice on housing, welfare benefits, employment, and well being; manage caseloads and prevent homelessness through mediation and securing alternative accommodation.
  • Collaborate with the Private Sector Initiatives Team to match clients with housing options and stay updated on housing laws and policies.
  • Make referrals to partner services, assist with self-assessments, and help clients bid for Council or Housing Association properties.
  • Prepare legal documentation, maintain accurate customer records, and contribute to the creation of information materials and responses to inquiries.

Qualifications and Experience:

The successful candidate will have the following skills / experience:

  • Experience in housing advice, homelessness prevention, and managing a varied caseload.
  • Strong negotiation and mediation skills with tenants, landlords, and other stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of housing law, welfare benefits, and related social welfare legislation.
  • Proven ability to deliver front line advice services and collaborate with partner agencies.

What's on offer:

Salary: £20+ph

*may negotiate higher for exceptional candidates, based on experience*

Contract type: 3-6, months minimum, with a high likelihood of extension

Hours: Monday to Friday, 36 hours per week
