The role will involve:

Providing support to the housing service and management of the homeless prevention team. The reason for needing to fill the position covered is due to the introduction of the Homeless Reduction Act 2017, there has been an increase in Clients presenting to the Authority for homelessness assistance. This post is vital to minimize the number of clients going into bed and breakfast accommodation and to ensure we can assist vulnerable residents into suitable longer-term accommodation. The role will include managing multiple teams around homelessness to ensure smooth running of the service. The role will include providing support to multiple offers as well as guidance. The post holder will be supporting those families that have arrived in the UK following war lead countries for safe habitat. The officer will be responsible for proactively delivering housing options advice, including security of tenure, low-cost home ownership, preventing homelessness, investigating householder circumstances and undertaking statutory assessments to determine the best options and resources available on a case-by-case. This will involve carrying and managing a case load across housing options, move-on and homeless prevention, to work with individuals supporting and directing clients to access a broad range of housing options and where appropriate making relevant onward referrals and signpost to other services. The post holder will ensure statutory requirements are met and local team targets are delivered through case work and to focus on cases to move cases on that we have accepted main duty.
