Are you a dynamic leader with a passion for youth justice? Do you have extensive experience managing youth justice services? If so, we invite you to apply for the role of Interim Head of Youth Justice Service. This is an exciting opportunity to lead and drive best practice in the strategic development of a "child first" approach within youth justice, ensuring high-quality service delivery to children and their families.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Strategy: Provide strategic leadership, continually improve and modernise youth justice services, and translate strategic objectives into operational delivery.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Secure political and high-level management and stakeholder agreement for strategic objectives, including preparation for new inspection regimes.
  • Performance Management: Oversee systemic practice groups, ensuring standards and performance targets are met or exceeded.
  • Multi-Agency Collaboration: Lead multi-agency responses to adolescent safeguarding and extra-familial harm.
  • Service Improvement: Drive continual improvement, ensuring the service is inspection-ready and aligned with best practices.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Professional Registration: Registered with Social Work England or equivalent professional qualification.
  • Youth Justice Expertise: In-depth knowledge of the legal and statutory framework of youth justice services, recent research, and best practices.
  • Leadership: Proven experience in managing youth justice services, strategic planning, and leading multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Resource Management: Experience in human and financial resource management, business planning, and performance management.
  • Communication Skills: High-level written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information effectively.
