Avanti Recruitment is working with a dynamic E-commerce company who are on the lookout for a Senior/Lead Developer to join the team on a permanent basis. The role is a hybrid position and will require you in the office 1 day per week ideally but they are flexible on this requirement.

They have built out online gifting brands which have achieved a turnover of £10M+. You’ll be joining a team of 30 people, with the dev team consisting of 5 currently, however they are poised for significant growth and plan on doubling in size over the coming years.

The Role:

They are on the lookout for an experienced Senior/Lead Java Developer to spearhead their technological evolution, transforming from their current Magento/PHP (Lamp Stack) setup to a cutting-edge Java Enterprise environment. This is a pivotal role that will shape the future of the tech stack and contribute directly to the company’s growth.

The CEO is specifically looking for someone with E-Commerce experience, ideally with start-up or small company experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement technology roadmaps
  • Design and oversee system architecture
  • Lead the migration to Java Enterprise (Spring/Spring Boot Microservices)
  • Facilitate the company's move to AWS (Lambda, SQS, SNS)
  • Create prototypes and liaise with stakeholders
  • Balance hands-on development (50%) with architecture, design, and stakeholder management (50%)

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Must have E-Commerce Experience
  • Must have experience in a small or start-up company
  • Proven track record in Java Enterprise development (Spring/Spring Boot Microservices)
  • Strong understanding of cloud technologies, particularly AWS
  • Fullstack development capabilities (Ideally with PHP/Magento)
  • Excellent communication skills for stakeholder management
  • Ability to quickly adapt to and lead innovation with new technologies

Work Environment

  • Hybrid working 1 day per week from the Heathrow office (however this is flexible)
  • Potential for a 4-day work week for the right candidate
  • Flexible working hours (core hours 9 AM - 5 PM)
