They are a forward-thinking company that embraces innovation and change.Adapting to demand, they have recently established a Technical Innovation team, which undertakes the development of technology based Software-As-A-Service (SaaS) products in the transport data and consulting industry, as well as in-house projects.Based in Old Street, in a modern office, they are a circa 50 strong, dynamic team of experts, that want to welcome you, a Lead Transport Software Developer to the team!Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert guidance and oversight to your teams to enable them to make sound technical decisions while making sure that the technology you support is making a difference to the future growth of the company.
  • Lead the development of new technology products in the transportation sector, focusing on sustainability and efficiency.
  • Oversee the improvement and maintenance of existing technology solutions, ensuring they meet client needs and industry standards.
  • Work closely with clients to facilitate the onboarding process for existing technology products, ensuring seamless integration.
  • Collaborate with external partners and internal teams to ensure research and product development aligns with client requirements and industry innovations.
  • Drive innovation by identifying and implementing new ideas that improve product offerings and internal processes.
  • Manage and grow a talented team of developers and engineers, providing technical direction, training and leadership.
  • Continuously seek opportunities to improve technical solutions, bringing creative solutions to complex problems.
  • Ensure all technology projects are delivered on time and meet high standards of technical excellence.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
  • Experience in software development, with time spent in a leading role.
  • Strong programming skills in relevant languages (e.g., Java, Python, JavaScript)
  • Experience with cloud technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
  • Strong technical expertise in technology development-preferably in transport technology or a related field as well as up to date knowledge about latest academic research on these topics
  • Self-motivated and hardworking, with a passion for driving innovative solutions.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Desirable Experience and Skills:

  • Experience in the transport industry or public sector
  • Knowledge of GIS and mapping technologies
  • Familiarity with artificial intelligence and machine learning
  • Familiarity with big data analysis
  • Experience with mobile app development
  • Experience working in or with local government transport teams or projects.
  • Understanding of transport technology solutions or traffic data collection.
  • Background in managing the full technology project lifecycle, from ideation to deployment and maintenance.
