Have you got experience of working with children with Special Educational needs?

Milk Education are working closely with a Special School in Tower Hamlets who specialise in children with Multiple Learning Difficulties and are looking to employ a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant on a full-time basis. As a Teaching Assistant, you will support our Teachers to take a creative approach to teaching pupils according to their educational needs, maximising pupils' achievement, and ability to develop.

This school strives to creatively plan and tailor lessons to ensure all individual needs are supported and met. It is important that you are proactive in building positive relationships with these students and liasing with the school's SENCO to provide the best possible outcomes. The role will start as soon as possible.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Have experience in de-escalation and therapeutic techniques to assist pupils with varied and complex needs.
  • Engage in interventions both in and out of lessons to foster effective participation of students in the social, behaviour and academic processes of the school
  • Work with the team to implement behaviour management strategies and develop relationships with students who may be vulnerable and have complex needs
  • Liaise with other agencies to ensure that student needs are fully met
  • Support the teacher in the delivery of engaging and successful lessons
  • Model, within a classroom setting, support strategies that will encourage and develop appropriate behaviour in a variety of settings i.e with individuals and groups/whole class
  • Model group based activities that will develop problem-solving, listening and social skills
  • You will need to provide personal care and assist with feeding
