A fantastic school located in the London borough of Islington is seeking to recruit an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to support Communication and Behaviour needs on a full-time, long-term basis from January 2025.

This fantastic Primary School based in the heart of Islington are a 2-form entry mainstream school with a specialised Speech & Language Unit attached. This is to give children and therapists the space to work and progress with various activities.

As a Communication and Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant, you will be supporting students in and out of the classroom on a 1:1 basis, in small group settings as well as providing general classroom support. The students you support will have a range of needs including but not limited to Autism (ASC), ADHD, dyslexia and mild learning disabilities, therefore a calm, consistent approach is needed for this role.

JOB DESCRIPTION: Communication and Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant

Your role as a Communication and Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant will include but not be limited to:

  • KS1 class

  • Cognitive and Language support

  • Support with challenging and demand avoidance behaviours

  • Supporting in class and in small groups

  • Collaborating with Teachers, SENCO and therapists

  • Full time role: 8:30am - 4:30pm

  • Long term role - until at least July 2025

  • Ā£95+ per day

  • January 2025 start

PERSON SPECIFICATION: Communication and Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant

The ideal candidate for this Communication and Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant will have the following:

  • Strong academic background - educated to a degree level from a reputable University

  • Experience in a previous SEN role, or personal experience with SEN would be ideal

  • Experience working with children - ideally in a school setting

  • Ideal for those who are compassionate, confident and calm

  • You must be able to commit to the entire academic year, until July 2023
