Responsibilities of the Learning Support Assistant:- Provide 1:1 or small group support to pupils with Autism, adapting strategies to meet individual needs.
- Assist non-verbal children using alternative communication methods, such as visual aids or technology.
- Support pupils with behavioural needs, implementing positive reinforcement techniques.
- Collaborate with teachers and SEN staff to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
- Promote social, emotional, and academic development through tailored activities.
- Previous experience as a Learning Support Assistant, especially with Autism or behavioural needs.
- Knowledge of alternative communication methods, such as PECS or Makaton (preferred).
- Confidence in managing challenging behaviours and fostering engagement.
- A calm, patient, and flexible approach to supporting children with SEN.
- Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one through the agency.
- Gain valuable experience working with Autism and non-verbal pupils.
