We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join our vibrant team at a mainstream secondary school in Southwark. This full-time, long-term position offers an excellent opportunity to make a real impact in the lives of students. The role is due to start immediately and will continue through until the end of the academic year.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
- Assist in the development and delivery of tailored learning plans, working closely with teaching staff.
- Support students in the classroom, ensuring they can access the curriculum and participate fully in lessons.
- Help with the management of classroom behaviour and provide a safe and supportive learning environment.
- Monitor student progress, assist with assessments, and provide feedback to teachers.
- Foster an inclusive and encouraging atmosphere for all students, helping to build their confidence and independence.
- Liaise with parents and professionals to support students' development and wellbeing.
- Contribute to the overall school environment, working as part of a collaborative team.
- Previous child-based experience is essential, with a proven track record of supporting students in an educational setting.
- Experience with SEND is required, including knowledge of strategies to support students with a variety of learning needs.
- A DBS check on the update service is mandatory for the role.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate young people.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively.
